1. In our experience, we have found it is best to do the test on a tablet or computer as there is more available screen space and your child will have an easier time reading the questions.

2. Make sure your child is in a quiet area, and try to keep distractions to a minimum.

3. Try to avoid coaching or otherwise aiding your child with the answers. The program can only help your child become a better reader if it is able to accurately determine their current reading level.

In the trial version, after the initial assessment, your child will have access to 1 story, along with approximately 2 hours worth of activities to accompany it. Purchasing a subscription to BrightFish will unlock many more stories, all designed to make your child a better reader using our proven system. In our full version, you can also re-test your child 2 more times, every 3 months, to ensure that they are on the right track to reading success.

We recommend a minimum of 45min / week of BrightFish practice. Generally, we see students improve 1 reading grade level for every 10 hours of practice (approximately 10 stories).
